I'm a fan of run what you brung. you need to make some shake down runs at the track. It will only get faster after that.

We all know are "Butt o Domineers" (the car feels like) Lie to Us all the time :steering::D

Have fun at the track and let us know how it goes.

I agree with Don on the gear and converter. When my Dart had the 340 in it I ran a 3.91 gear and a 275 radial. Made the change to a 4.30 gear and same tire. It only picked up .05-.06 in 60 and the 1/8. It ran 11.60 @ 116 and change in the 1/4 @ 3240#.

26 inch tire and 3.91 gear should be 6300-6400 at the stripe assuming decent convertor slip, more if the vert isn't efficient

I still drive the car back-and-forth to work about a half hour each way if it was just a track car I would probably go 456
It’s already a fine line of being a street car I would like to think the heads have been worked over pretty good but unfortunately I did not actually build this engine The guy who did was outing it in his 82 Marada drag car but ended up going with a big block
Going to check valve lash tonight a few other odds and ends and hopefully get to the track tomorrow and see some where in the 11s keeping my fingers crossed

All of that I would think, my all steel '71 340 Cuda with stock T/A 2.02 heads, @10:1 or less, Strip Dom intake, 850DP and the .590 sft cam, went a best of 12.41@108 in 3500lbs+. Stock l/springs clamped@front, dc comp shocks w/2"extensions, 4.30's/10x28's and a T/A 4200 stall and I only used 6200rpm max.

I love seeing that other folks drive their cars to the track too. I drive mine to the track a 3-4 times a year, but most of the time I trailer it. Good luck tomorrow :)

For the record? I believe a mid 70s Duster is the best drag race platform for the home garage build can attempt with Mopar? You can still find for relatively cheap $$ And can accommodate even a RB build. Like I tell my Chevy friends. The Duster is Mopar's "Nova" Like the Nova, both are naturally nose heavy when bigger/taller rear tires are added. Thus it naturally launches better than let's say an E-body. (Or in Chevy world? Compared to a Camaro.)
it's lighter than B-bodies. Like the Nova being lighter than Chevy's Chevelles. And like the Nova? Definitely less expensive.

My 74 Duster 451 build. If broke down by components? About a $15k car that runs low 10s. To compare to my street GTX? Just a shell beginning platform would cost more than $15k. Add another $25k to get it anywhere near 10s.

In closing? The Duster? Mopar's best bang for the buck.

Certainly capable of getting in the 11’s with all you have. Just know you’re not going to go out the first couple of runs and wow yourself. Gotta get your burnout down, figure out if launching off idle or if loading the converter at the ideal rpm gives you the best 60’ etc. Assuming you got the carb jetting and timing close, the best shift points determined... yeah, there’s gonna be a bunch of 60’, 330’ etc, ET and some MPH whittling going on!:steering:

Well made it to the track Sunday
It did not go good at all got there late after driving there an hour park the car walked around Watched a few other guys run while I was waiting for my car to cool down finally got in line and made it to the burn out coming out of the burn out stalled the car got it started again stage the car and was so sidetracked looking at the gauges next thing you know I looked up and the light was green haha broke the tires loose went to hit second but slammed the Revlimiter it was all over after that 1.9 60 foot
So get right back in line well in line I believe I loaded up the car turning it on and off and only move 10 feet at a time third time I went to move huge backfire out the carburetor had to get out the fire extinguisher bye the time the car cool down and cleaned everything up the track was shut down because someone dumped oil all over it luckily no damage to the car fired it up and drove home an hour home that’s when I realized my shift light was set at seven grand but the Revlimiter was sent at 68

May not have gone quite as planned, but at least you made it out and were still able to drive it home afterward. I call that a successful outing. I wanted to get out there but did not have the time, so you did more than me.

I was looking at your old posts from 2020 in he thread below. Did you ever post completed pictures anywhere? Just curious, since you were doing so munch work on it.

Looks really good. I like it. Do you have an engine compartment picture? Is it still running the B1 heads shown in the other thread?

                My old 340 combo:

                10.5cr
                Ported 587 heads(flowed 250/175)
                Ootb Victor
                Crower 263/265-108 solid cam
                HS 1.5’s
                1-3/4” headers
                Old school 850 Holley annular
Dynamic 8” converter that was supposed to stall 5500(only stalled 4900)
                5.13’s w-30” slicks
68 satellite, mechanical fuel pump, battery up front, crank driven w/p, no scoop.
                Best of 11.60’s@117

Shifted at 7500. Any lower and it just slowed down. Out the back at just barely 7k(not enough gear).

                It made 400tq/454hp like that.
I did a bit more porting(260 on the intakes), port matched the manifold, cleaned up the plenum, milled the heads for 11:1cr.
                Retested and it made 412tq/478hp.
But never put it back in the car........ sold it.

It really could have used that extra/missing 600rpm stall..... and some 5.38’s.
