I have seen a couple of threads here about the window louvers for the Duster. My question is this,

Is there anyone out there with a set that would be willing to provide me with detailed pics and measurements?

I am prepared to fabricate some sets and make them available for a RESONABLE price. I have the tooling and knowhow to fabricate them but need data to do so. Anyone???

That would be cool, but the only ones I've ever seen were on Tom McEwen's Duster Funny Cars in mid-seventies.

Louvers would be cool on an duster/demon/sport. If the price isn't crazy, I'd buy one.

Anyone have a set out there? Would someone be willing to make some measurements or provide some detailed pics of a set they know of?

I have a Duster, the material source and the access to the equipment. All I need to get started is a few general dimensions and some pics of the hinge and hold down. I have some ideas but would like to duplicate the originals. I need to know thickness and width of the individual louvers. Were they all the same? Looks like in the pics they have a slight bend to them. I am a aviation sheet metal worker so the cutting and bending is not the problem. I think some 2024 T6 aircraft aluminum will give it the proper stiffness and I think .050 should do the trick, but need data?

In the two pictures I posted above, if memory serves me right, that particular set of louvers were the original set added on by Mr. Norms dealership. (guys who know chime in I might be in left field). I have no detailed dimensions, only those pictures that I saved from an older thread here for a reference in case someone like you ever asked...
Have ya ever thought of trying to fabricate a pair/set for the side windows as well? It could be your own design? I think you might generate enough interest for both. I know I would be really interested in either or both!

The Mr. Norms set is a bit ....... crude ..... they don't seem to fit the car very well and stop short..... If someone can fab a slightly more "refined" set I would imagine there might be a significant number of takers

from the pic upstairs, it looks like they need an extra "slat" on the bottom and maybe a little thicker metal to prevent the "warping". they just dont look like they belong on a duster. im assuming they are short to keep the deck lid from hitting them. i would love to see a prototype. if you can make it happen, im in for a set

My research so far has confirmed that the lower slat is not missing but was never installed due to trunk lid clearance. If anyone know of a set out there on a buddies car or a local guy, whould they be able to get some close up pics and some measurments? I have located some material that could be use for the edge dressing but still need to get some measurements for sure.

Well if and when they do I will take one with an extra slat on the bottom as my trunk lid is a lift off.

mine would have to have the extra slat as well, regardless if my deck lid could potentially hit them. it just doesnt look "finished" or duster/dart sport specific without it. i would love to see a rear quarter window louver to match, kind of like what was on the 70s cobra mustangs. it seems to me with the materials and some time, you could just start with a frame built to the inside trim dimensions of a duster/DS rear window, and build it up from there. you could use some kind of "clips" to slide it under the window trim up top, and some sort of lock/clip on the bottom for removal, and to give it smooth uninterrupted transition from louver to trim to body. somewhere i saw a pic of ABS plastic / injection mold louvers for 71-74 B bodies that actually looked pretty nice and smooth, and a great fit. allBdamned if i can find it now....personally, im not looking for an exact reproduction of an original part, but more along the lines of something that fits really well and looks good.

Here is a link to what I put on my Challenger. It is a made in America product. When I was installing it I had some questions and was able to speak directly to whom I believe was the owner. He was very helpful. I don't know, maybe with some interest they would fab up a mold for A-bodies. I haven't done any measuring, but a guy might even be able to convert one of these.
