I'm 43 years young and seams like the hobby is getting slim lol.. out of a good 20 of my (close) childhood friends, I was the only guy to get into muscle cars.. not sure why??

I have quite a few friends that are into them, and some still have their old cars.
One in particular comes to mind, Jeff, he was a drag racer, still is.
He has his old car, and both of his kids, daughters are running jr dragsters.
A couple of months ago he mad dragzine magazine cover.
He devotes 100% of his spare time into racing.
Other guys their cars have sit, and not drivable, but they still have them tucked away in a garage.

We go to a lot of car shows. Its hit and miss to see a Dad or Mom come through with younger kids.
Nothing I enjoy better than watching a parent explain my car to their child.
Sometimes I pull the driver's door open and tell the kid to take a seat.
Pictures are taken and memories are made.
          Gotta love it!!

I was the only one into classic muscle cars in my high school auto shop. That was only 5 years ago for me mind you lol. Everybody else was into imports / rice burners. If there's younger people who are into the old iron, in my area a lot of them just like everything, from your Coronet to a clean 3000GT.

But your right, we are a dying breed. I'm 64, when I was in my20's-30's there was a cult following for Model A's and T's. Not so much anymore. They all got old and died!

(Xs2) but I am apparently a little older than you but I had a similar experience in post secondary around the 2006 to 2010 era.

Most of the guys I was in class with were low riders. They flocked around the custom painting class.

Some times as they are walking the alses of the swap meet I hear the parent telling the young one about differant parts. I'll give them something. I've given away 340 & hemi pistons and valves and valve spring. Then I tell them they have their first part of what ever motor it is now start rounding up the rest.
Only had one guy not except because the freeby would not work with anything they had. He wanted to buy some linkage I had tho. I just gave it to him instead.

The reason I stopped 1/4 Mile racing is because my local track started getting flooded with ricers and Fiat "muscle" around 2009/10.

I won't race against a ricer or plastic muscle. Some of those cars are fast, even faster than I was but I just don't feel it's right. For me, cars if the same kind should stage up and race.

So when muscle cars started disappearing and only new stuff was around, I couldn't get staged against other muscle, I disappeared as well.

The younger generation has a knack for talking dumb shit about cars, especially cars they are not familiar with. "Where is the knawwws" (NOS). "I would put a Toyota twin turbo on that"
It"s apparent they have no clue what old school super stock style racing of the 60s is.

Most of those POS ricers I had to put out. I would dial 5.70-5.74 When I would gain on them I held my breath they wouldn't cross into my lane. Most of them were the most ill handling cars out there. But I agree they took the fun out of it for me.

Very distinct possibility there . If they have enough steam to spin the drive tires on a FWD POS, they have ZERO steering. From a circle track point of view, those FWD Mini Stocks are BOOOORRRINNNGGG.

I get to sick of the turbo everything crowd. Now a turbo slant is cool. But turbo ricers? I don't think so. I don't care if they are fast. Where will they be in 20 years? Clapped out in somebody's back yard or recycled as a frigerator.

                                      Kids? Excellent!

Keep the car. It’s paid for right? So it owes you nothing, costs you nothing and can be brought back to life when the kids can enjoy it with you. And then, when they leave the house, you can revive the car again and re enjoy it!

Never let it go until the day come when you can no longer see the road and drive right. Pass it on to the kids so they can enjoy it or sell it to someone how will love it.

I have a guy on the end of my street (100 yards) that has a 70 Duster hidden away, Red with a white stripe. I've seen it out in front a few times but hes never around to strike up a conversation about it. My garage is open a few hour on the weekends and no on has ever stopped and asked what that 'old car' in the garage is...:-( My oldest boy asked if he could drive my 'hobby car' to the prom. I told him that I was honored that he asked, and then told him 'hell no'.

I went to an Dr appointment a year or so ago, I drove my old supercharged Vette, the cleaning lady at work and her grandson came out of the dr office just as I pulled into the parking lot.
I let the young man sit in the drivers seat, even though he was a little hesitant.
I hope he remembers that day for a while. The lady told me a week or so later that he was still talking about sitting in a corvette.

                                          Yep.
Around here seems like the only young attraction to cars is buying a $400 fart can muffler
and putting it on a 2.0 ricer half assly(usually bent, un fastened) and wallahhhhhh, an annoying wanna be hotrod....LMFAO

Majority of the people that bought so called muscle cars back in the day, did so just to have a cool car to drive. Maybe helped them get a hotter date. Most were not "car guys". That car soon just went away for a more practical car. Boring car.
So 20-30 years later, these same people are still not car guys. If they have the $ they might buy a hotter car to impress ???????
Back (home) is SW Missouri, that is a car area. Old 66 ,right there. LOTS of old cars/trucks, home of Lucus oil, O Reilly...

Here is S W Texas, 1 hour North of Houston the third largest city in the US, NOT really. For the population, ain't squat! IMHO
