I hope you don't mind an E body guy hanging out here, but to be fair, I started as an A body guy. My first car was a 1970 Dodge Demon with a slant 6, and a 3 on the tree. My second car car, which is pictured, was a 1971 Plymouth Duster. It was an original 340 with a column shift, houndstooth interior. I bought the car without an engine, and dropped a 318 with a 727 that came with the car. It was my high school car in the early 80's with a lot of good memories. My current project is a 1973 Challenger that I am doing a 1970 tribute resto-mod.

I too have a couple of E bodies. And an old Demon. Wife is from Oregon and we lived there many a year. If you ever saw a Sublime and black Cuda running around by the hockey rink in Eugene that would be me! I love thrashing on my A body and the folks on here are great. Most are aware I race a E body but they don't hold it against me! FABO rocks. Welcome aboard.

Yea, I dont get the hater thing on E bodies.
A few told me about the holier than thou arrogant attitude in which blew me away.

I’m sorry if my opinion of my E body Cuda is the most bad ass looking muscle car ever made but that it is in my eyes. But certainly don’t shove it up anyone’s ass as I’m great and your car sucks.

That would be just plain suck ass poor.

I also think the best ride to modify is an A body, bar none. Nice and light. Build’em up and stomp some ass.

You have an E body as well?

Wow, it looks like I may have entered into a territory I am unfamiliar with. I had no clue that there was any hatred towards E bodies or their owners. I have never looked down on A bodies, as I have owned them myself, and love driving them. Now that it has been brought to my attention, I can see tension might exist. Even as a E body owner, I get a little hint that some owners don't like that I am dropping a 5.9 magnum in, and leaving the front serpentine belt and front brackets on because it does not look original. To me, it is about making the car more drivable. Who wants to have a numbers matching car that sits in the garage because they are afraid of driving it. That is what I like about A body guys, they are never afraid to modify their cars, or drive them.

Now that is out of the way, I am from the Albany area for those how asked. We have quite a active car community here that really gets going during the summer. There are a couple of weekly cruise ins, and several cars shows every weekend. I suppose it is like many other blue collar areas around the country, but it still a great place for a car guy to live.

I don't find any pictures of my old A bodies, my wife sorted through some of my pictures, and I could only find the one of my Duster that I posted. We do not own an A body at the moment, but getting one after the Challenger is done is not out of the question. My wife likes wagons, so something like a Valiant/Dart wagon would be fun. So here are a few pictures of my Challenger so far. I bought it as a shell. The plan is to put a warmed over 5.9 Magnum, with the A-518 behind it.

You have no worries with me. I like that your here and see from your pictures that you are doing a great job. I would give my eye teeth to have a challenger as nice as yours and great color choice. I'll even put up with that old blue GM in the back ground. lol
                      Stick around good people here.

As previously stated we are from that area, lots of kin folk in Albany area. Wife worked for Coastal farm store. Block 15 brewery in Corvallis sponsored our hockey Team. Brother works for University sister works for hospital etc etc. To your point I am presently stuffing. 6.1 gen 3 in a 72 Demon and this site has been invaluable to me for insight and knowledge. I have a build thread going on here. This bunch is a bit more accepting of stepping away from the purist version of the sport. Make no mistake there are a whole bunch of folks on here that keep their A bodies original and have some stunning cars, but by and large the group is mostly supportive of people that strive to make a rig better. Like you, being an adulterated E body owner I have got a lot of flack over the years. I take the cuda to a car show and guys will just mutter to themselves how could you do that to a Cuda? I usually have to resort to the response of, that is why your key don't fit. They hate the steering wheel tossed on the dash, toggle switchs, roll bar etc.

Only Mopar love here. I grew up with Mopars, as Dad and my uncle owned a really small town Chrysler/Plymouth dealership up until '75. The Dodge dealership was in the next small town and Dad's friend. Good looking Challenger, keep us posted on your progress.

Build that challenger the way you want it.
You only have to please two people.....yourself and your pocketbook.

Thanks everyone for the welcome, and complements on the Challenger. I would like to say I am responsible for the paint work, but I am fortunate to have found a paint guy that works very reasonable, and does an incredible job. The color is hard to tell from the picture, but it is not a true Plum Crazy. It is a House of Kolor paint called Pavo Purple. So far I am very pleased with it. Also, I have a Youtube channel that I have short videos as I go through the build. Feel free to take a look. (Side note, the Firebird belongs to my parents) :)

Some people are just “Resto Nazi’s” and there dicks about it. They fail to realize it is your car to do with as you please. Owning an old car is not a prerequisite or a unwritten contract will promise to do a restoration on the car.

“I live by, your car your way.”

My phrase has always been, "There are hundreds of parts in a car, and more then just one way to put them back together"That said, I understand if someone has the 440 Six Pack/ Hemi R/T, SE, one of only how many, that modifying might not be the best financial choice. Then again, as we have been saying, it's their car, let them do what they want with it. I think that the crazy values on some of the e bodies obscures the fact that they are just cars, and were meant to be driven.
