    Edelbrock Streetmaster

    Designed by Edelbrock, and first released in 1973.

    First designed for the Small Block Chevrolet {350/160 HP} that
    was found in the Chevrolet K5 Blazer.

    * Profile > Single-Plane Low-Rise Intake
    * Style > Short-length runners with narrow passages

    Edlelbrock Engineers {Research and Development} came up with this Manifold, primarily to help fuel mileage and efficiency for small block engines.

    The goal >
    * To provide for better vehicle responsiveness on the low-end.
    * To allow for a more uniform fuel distribution.
    * Better cylinder filling.
    * Reduce emissions at lower RPM's.
    * Increase fuel mileage.

    The small runners increased velocity at low Rpm's, which helped improve efficiency.

    There was better fuel atomization which helped fill the cylinders
    quicker.

    Edelbrock announced that this Manifold improved fuel mileage by
    9% to 14% in economy driving.

    It was accurately marketed, as a 'Mileage/Performance' Intake Manifold, that improved economy for daily driving habits.

    Marketed for >
    * Daily Drivers
    * Motor Homes
    * Pick-Up Trucks
    * Campers
    * Vans
    * Station Wagons

    A true 'Off-Idle to Cruising-RPM' Intake Manifold.

    Awarded the 'Best New Product' at the 1973 SEMA Trade Show

    I have one and wondered if it would be good for a mild 10-15 lb 318 turbo build I might do.

    Any thoughts on that fellas.

    The Edelbrock Streetmaster #3275 is a decent functional Intake Manifold for a
    mild 318.

    Primarily designed for > Off-Idle to 4500 RPM's.

    Once you get above 4500 RPM's, it does fall flat though.

      Yes, I talked my son out of it and into a Torker I have for his hot rod 318.

      It's just one I've got and wondered if the pressure would over come that as the only other ones I have are an SP2P or Holley Strip Dominator in aluminum.

      Just wonderin' out loud.

      I bought the Weiand Action Plus. Gobs of low end, as it is designed for off idle, and will pull to 6 grand with a mild cam and headers, especially if its feeding the likes of a 2.02 x head. Will accept spread bore or square bore, and that's a big ++++! Advertised, though, to make power from idle - 5500.

      Pressure on the engine? Go with the single plane Torker or Strip Dom. No doubt, ether one.

      Looking at that streetmaster, it kinda gives the impression of the early 273 2 bbl single plane.(Chrysler musta been up to something)I have no comment either way, but always thought that a dual plane was better for bottom and mid range. That statement is kinda of a question. Any thoughts ?

      * Narrow Port Passages
      * Short-Runners
      * Helps increase 'low-end' responsiveness
      * Good for 'Off-Idle' to 'Cruising Range'

      I would just leave the ld4b on it, its a pretty good intake for your combo.

      I have one of these intakes, been trying to find a 500cfm 4 barrel to run it on my 273 daily driver. Throttle blades on a 600 won't clear unless I run a spacer which I am afraid will affect the purpose and design of the intake.

      Exactly,

      The smaller sized 'plenum' on the 'Streetmaster 318' is designed for that purpose,
      a smaller CFM-rated Carburetor.

      The early Carter AFB's {Advertised @ 500 CFMs'} off the 273 Commando have.
      * Primary ....... 1 7/16" {1.437"}
      * Secondary ... 1 9/16" {1.562"}

      A too big Carburetor on the 'Streetmaster 318' defeats the intent {purpose} of the
      low-rise single-plane Manifold.

      I have used an older Holley 550 CFM {1 9/16" x 1 9/16" Throttle-Bores} with the
      'Streetmaster 318', and it works like 'A Charm'.
