looking to pick up an elelbrock performer rpm manifold for a 340 (not air gap). i currently have a new holley 650 vac secondaries elec choke etc thats there replacement for the thermoquad "model 4175". will this carb bolt up to the new rpm manifold? are they both considered spreadbores? dont want to have to buy another carb. thanks.

holleys tend to be square bore as well, though. if you're gonna reuse the TQ you will need the adapter, if you use a holley sq. bore carb you will not. IIRC, the holley will fit on a spread bore intake OR a square bore, but the TQ will only work on the spread bore unless you use the adapter for the square bore.

sounds a lot more complicated than it is....
using the holley carb and the rpm intake, you will NOT need an adapter.
**EDIT: that particular holley is a spread bore, my bad. WILL need an adapter.**

thanks to both. one more question? outside of the obvious cooler denser charge benefit on the air gap model intake, is there any other difference between the regular rpm and the air gap that would change the performance?they look the same and it appears they just hogged out the bottom portion of the regular rpm model for air flow. no?

the big difference is just that- the RPM air gap makes a cooler, denser charge. IIRC, it's taller too.

he stated he has a holley 4175.....those are spreadbore carbs...

wont fit with out an adapter....

As stated in post #2 by you. Happster corrected himself.
