87 318 2bbl ,non smog carter 2bbl , exhaust pop at idle - no miss if you power brake it , all ignition ck n ok timing on the mark what am i looking for vac leak carb issue tks gjg

My 440 would pop every time my spark plug boot got burned thru by the headers.

You hear these ricers and exotics pop all the time compression braking, I think its an exhaust leak. I dint think their heads are so far out that they cause it.

Also maybe a broken valve spring. You can pull the valve covers and closely inspect all the valve springs.

Try tapping the offending exh valves rocker with a rubber mallet to reset/re clock the valve to seal.
Egr valve on that 87?

yup EGR but not hooked up, car had lean burn dist, carb,changed. mopar electronic ing thinking more toward carb or vac leak saturday i will start on it tks for the input gjg
