Hey, guys.

I'm starting to think that my 1971 style 15x7 Rally wheels don't fit with the low-buck look of my car and I'm eyeing a set of cop style steel wheels with the dog dish hubcaps from Wheel Vintiques. They're ~$130-~$160 each (including the caps) and they can be had in a pretty broad variety of widths and offsets.

Is there any downside to going with these guys? Is the quality ok? Do they weigh more or less than comparably wide 15" Rally wheels?

I'm still shopping around for a rear axle solution (pending budgetary constraints) so I'm not quite ready to choose my offsets...but I'm ever more disillusioned by the lack of 15" tire options. I'd nearly kill for a Michellin Pilot Supersports in 275/60/15 an 225/65/15. :)

I had wheel vintiques make me a couple custom backspace 15x8 steel wheels and they were excellent. Runout was well within spec and it didn't take them hardly any time to make. I bought them through Summit. I'd buy them again.

I also had mine custom made but strait from WV. I would definitely recommend them. They can make you most any size and backspace in 15".

My Rallye wheels came from Wheel Vintiques from Summit. They're a nice wheel and I haven't had any problems being out-of-round or not capable of being balanced like I've heard some complaints. So far so good!

I've got 2 sets of 15X7 small bolt rallyes no issues with them..

Ralley Wheel set (4) from Summit racing. 15X8 & 15X10. Excellent.
Use the long rubber air filler tube thingy to clear the trim ring.

I have read the dog dishes do not stay in unless you rough up the contact surface they slip over and lock on to.
For a better description, log onto the summit site for the reviews

I special ordered a set from them. Took about 2 months to get. The wheels were straight, and balanced well, but when I painted the wheels with bc/cc, the so called powder coated finish peeled up. Had to strip the wheels and start over.

Their wheels are good, it just takes a long time to get custom backspace wheels. The last 2 I ordered took 3 months to get.

Does anyone know if they "re-hoop" 14" to 15" with chrome shells (hoops)?

I've been looking for a place to do my Spyders.

I've read some questionable reviews about McWheels, despite being "the" guy that seems to be the Spyder specialist.

I contacted Stockton Wheel and they said their master technician just retired and they were no longer doing this !!??

I have used the Wheel Vintiques wheels a few times. I bought a set of 4 rallys that the finish wasn't that great and I ended up redoing them with Base/Clear. My last car I sold I used the Police wheels from them and I noticed that the Mopar center caps needed some Massaging to keep them on. Would I buy another set from them. Yup! just need to clear coat them to keep them liiking new. Fit is awesome and take very little weight to balance them.

That's interesting. Mine took less than 2 weeks.

I talked to a higher up there and they said that they do the custom backspaces in batches, so if you get in at the right time on a run you can get your wheels done in a few weeks, but if you call them in the middle of another batch, you're in line for the next run which won't even begin until the current batch is finished...

Also, my steel wheels turned out nice, but the backspace I ordered for the rear turned out to be not enough, so I had a welder locally cut out the middle of the rear wheels and make the backspace 5 1/8 inches...

Since I have the spring relocation kit, that backspace puts the wheel with half an inch to spare towards the springs and 5/8 inch towards the fender lips... Perfect...
