fan shroud won't fit

When I say warm the needle shoots all the way to hot. She doesn't boil over but it's close. I actually suspect a blockage in the block itself. The engine was bought as a short block from a cheezy engine shop in Sacramento. It always ran hot no matter which heads, radiator, shroud or fan I used.

I would get a second opinion on the actual temp.

Shoots all the way to hot suggests that the sender or guage is not functioning correctly. It should take minutes to get to temp.
