My fenders are quickly approaching the point of no return on the lower portion behind the front wheels. I've had rust bubbles on there since I bought the car and knew at some point they would get bad enough I couldn't take it anymore. I'm not a body man by any means, and don't really have the knowledge or skills to cut and patch them and always figured once they got bad enough I'd just go fiberglass anyway as that way I'd never have to worry about rust on them again. I have an old Vette and a Viper that are both composite bodies, so it's something I'm moderately used to.

That being said, what are people using for vendors nowadays? I have an AAR hood on my car now. I would want something as similar to factory as I can get as far as mounting and fitment, so no one-piece full clip. I don't necessarily care if they may look a little wavy as it can't look much worse than the way my car does now with the body work it had on it when I bought it. It's my daily driver, not a show car, so I'm more interested in the longevity of composite and a little bit of weight savings can't hurt either. Prices for fiberglass vs steel seem to be pretty similar as well, so it's kind of a wash there. I saw AAR stuff through Stinger (though it says unavailable at the moment), and I saw a thread saying Stinger maybe wasn't the greatest to deal with (I don't recall where I got my hood from). Also saw Glasstek mentioned, though I think I only saw race weight stuff on their website. Anyone else run factory style fiberglass front fenders and care to chime in on their experience?

Just get new steel fenders. I believe the fiberglass fenders that you refer to need to have a head light bucket glassed into them. The gel coat in time will fracture. My 2 cents, not worth the trouble.

Where can you get steel fenders for 67-69 Barracudas? I have not seen them available anywhere.

You said Dart. Haven't looked, Barracuda's are not available through AMD?

I knew 67 - 69 Dart fenders were available I just had a glimmer of hope that 67 - 69 Barracuda fenders were now available. I cannot believe that they were not reproduced. I get it, it ain't cheap to do but I'm sure the demand would be there. I personally don't need any but I've had several people ask if they are available. Just an inquiry hoping something had changed as far as availability of a needed part.

The car is unibody. The front fenders stabilize the structure. They are not only bolted on the are fastened with seam adhesive on the top. Fiberglass are usually used on cars that have a braced unibody support or a cage.

I have driven 4 speed cart with no hood or fenders. The movement is very noticable with no fenders. 4 spd cars making power with the fenders replaced and just bolted on usually had the rad straps broke off the tanks at the bottom when we stripped them. Just some info you may want to take in an think about.

I would go to steel fenders and use adhesive on the top. Always make sure you replace them while the car is on a level floor.

We had a valiant race car here to repair that had down tubes put on while the back drag tire was flat. When they pump the tire up the one front wheel came off the ground . The unitized front was racked over 1 inch.

This twist was all in the unitized front from being twisted when sitting with a flat rear tire while welding in the down tubes. The fenders were bolted on with no adhesive and the top studs at the back of the fenders did not have nuts. We had to cut the down tubes of so it would set on the fixture flat and reweld them.

Look how far off the fixture that rails are in the pictures

It was at 2 different race shops and neither had a fixture to fix it. I would stay with steel unless you have a cage in the car. Fiberglass fenders are for race cars with supports or slant 6 auto cars driven on smooth roads.

Ah, yes, the OP did, it's in the thread header, 67-69 Dart. Did not realize that AMD doesn't make them for the 67-69 Barracuda.
