Hi,

I found out why my dart didn't have any hood springs on it when i bougth it. Someone had taken the springs off, put hood pins on the front and just let the rear of the hood set in the back. The hood is rotted out underneath, so i am going to buy a fiberglass hood. AAR's look good, kind of expensive, but i think they will be the best price compared to up22 when shipping is added in.

Next topic is the hood springs. The spring assemblys i have are kind of worn and sloppy. I dont know if there is anything i can do to tighten them up. I looked at SMSmopars site, and they sell rebuilt springs at $200 a pair, that sounds like a lot, but maybe its my only option. I also need lower tension springs for them, does anyone know where i can find those?

thanks for the help,

Steve

Member Atomic Dog sells the springs. Check the parts for sale section. I bought a set from him for my Barracuda. The AAR hoods are real nice. Shipping was over $100 for mine plus the $60 they get you for boxing it up.. Still worth the money IMO.

All A body hinges are sloppy.

thanks for the info on the springs Adam, i emailed him. After reading the post about your experieence with AAR i think i will price at AAR and UP22. I would like to have my hood here so i can paint it next weekend. I dont want to wait for it. Also, if it cost $60 to pack, plus $100 to ship, UP22 estimated shipping at $180 from CA. DOnt know if they charge to pack it up though.
Thanks for the info!

Unlimited Products stuff will require a lot of work to make it straight.

I used late 80's Dodge Daytona hood springs...........check out your local salvage yard

thanks for that info Adam, i definatly just want to paint it and bolt it on. Guess i will have to pay more. I also didn't realize until today when i talked to both of them that they are made to order, and not stocked. Guess i gotta put a few more hood pins on the steel for now and keep her as a lift off.

Thanks for the info Tony, i got lots of time before i get a hood here so i might check it out.

Thanks,

Steve
