Fiberglass hood

Ok I have the fiberglass hood and replaced those stock coil springs with the light tension ones from a member here and now the hood won’t stay in the upright position. Did I really need the light ones or maybe I installed them wrong? Any suggestions?

I’ve used screen door springs from a hardware store. They have different kinds. Take a weak one with you to compare & buy a pair a little stronger.
