Finally finished building my drivetrain dolly. All it lacks is paint. Borrowed different ideas for mine off different dolleys that other folks made. Adding beefier subframe connectors to the car, I used the old ones I cut out to make the backbone for this thing lol. Started on this thing a couple years ago. Got sidetracked by different shit. Had engine and trans in the car for mockup. Block goes to the machinest in a few weeks. I figure it's better now than never to giterdun. Works like a champ. I will never pull engines from the top anymore.

I did the same with my 2 darts. Real piece of crap I whipped up. Now I need to drop my BB car this summer so I need to make another one. I was looking at this a member built. Yours looks good too. The one on the bench was my old rickety one lol .

        Nice job Matt!
I think your cars are just an excuse to make stuff.

Yep, that's true. Plus i try to do things smarter as i get older. If that means making a tool or a fixture to do it easier, then why not. The days are past over for me trying to heft in a transmission from underneath on straight muscle power, or doing the barbell balance with a rear axle on a floor jack. Also back then when i was in my 20s i didnt know how to weld or fabricate stuff to make my job easier. AlGore had not "invented" the internet yet LoL, so the free exchange of ideas wasnt there. We all sorta existed in a vacuum. I also think it has to do with being older and wiser. The wheeled ends were from some fixture that my work was scrapping. I got those free, and the rest was steel I had laying around. Just a matter of putting it together in the proper order. I like free.

One of the issues I ran into with this was having to raise the tail shaft housing a little to get the bolts loose, and set it down after the K frame was on the dolly. I suppose it will be the same issue putting it back up. I picked up a scissors jack at a local boneyard today, and modded it to slide back and forth on the spine of this thing. I had a cheapie 3/8" socket to weld on the crank end.

VERY NICE, Matt. There are those who use tools, and those who make their own tools. Very impressive.

Very nice work, in a somewhat related manner I decided I needed a my run stand which I am close to finishing up.

I like that idea. I need to mod my build up stand to make bolt on attachments to make it a run stand as well.

Its definitely the best way to get a run stand, you get a tool that can double as an engine stand or a run stand, folds up and is easily stored. My stand is a HF 1000# unit which I had my kids get me for Xmas one yet in anticipation of building this stand. The wiring is a bit tedious but not overly difficult, I am using a lot of Anderson connectors so that the stand can be disassembled easily.
