my first race was 13.50
then it ran 12.82
then 12.80

Not bad for a first time.
Im thinking of dropping some weight here and there and then dialing it in a little and putting my subframe connectors in and stuff.

Hope it can get down to low 12's or better soon.
any suggestions?!!?!?

thanks

Quote putting my subframe connectors in.

I would be careful and get them in before you twist that 69 Dart.

I have seen them come back on three wheels before on the return lane.
Congat's on your first time out. That had to be a blast:cheers:

Good runs. Now just open your wallet, cause it,s an addiction. But an exciting one.Have fun!! Adjustable pinion snubber???

no no pinion snubber yet but its commin.
The m1 mite work well but im more into nostalgia as much as i can be,
Everything on the car is more or less old as far as speed equiptment goes.
I would actualy rather loose a little e.t. time then put all brand new parts on it. even though most people dissagree

any other tips on dropping e.t?
I have seen people with less work hit 11's so i think i mite just need to dial it in a little more and shift better. but anyone got anything else?

thanks

What jets?are you running with air filter(breather)?open headders. Some of this might start dropping 10ths.Good luck!

put Caltracs and the mono leaf spring wih their adjustable shocks you will lose weight and plant the tires better than ever. and drop ET

What's the advance curve set up like on the dist? Lots of ET and 60ft time in the distributor..... More carb like an 850.... header tube size and collector length? Had a similar build in a Cuda with 4.11 gears and a six pack with huge carbs running 12.49 @ 112 and I'm at almost 4000 FT elevation so mid 11s is realistic in CA.

i raced at famosa speedway bakersfield california
i ran open headers and should probly try re-jetting for that.
elevation change wasnt that much.
im running open headers.
I am going to shave some weight....back seat and all the little stuff at least.
It does have a spacer.

I think im going to try some new stuff next time,
next race is october and then the league doesnt have a race until april which will give me some more time to work on the car.

Im going to try the following
-remove back seat
-play w/ timing and jetting
-weight saving...back seat and so on
-change intakes
-install subframe connectors

-eat up all the chevys!

What size/brand tires you got on that thing? Also, more converter will help it but not required.

Any collectors on the headers? 14" to 18" extenders will also help alot on the launch.

tire size mt street radial
275 60 15
headers are hooker fenderwalls
collectors are like 8" or so but im not sure

Keep tryin, you,ll get the feel of it and it should turn out the best for ya!check out my vid. fromyesterday.

Im with Mguner, that combo will run harder once you get it all sorted out. Had a combo almost identical to that in our 67 charger w/4.30s went 12.50s(too much gear) w/26 in tires @ 3800lbs. Easiest of all our rigs to drive just point and shoot. We have a 74 duster with a nothing 440 shortblock with some 2.14 1.88 valved 906s(only mod to the heads) 528 mp solid cam performer rpm intake 850 holley w/schumaker tri/Ys lol 727 w/rev man vb.3000 stall in it w/8.25 w. 3.91s(that rear has been suprisingly strong, has an auburn in it and has been 130mph on the sauce a bunch of times in another one of our rigs) but that duster runs high 12 teens. Just today put subframe connectors on it. still running stock /6 rear springs 26x11 hoosiers(I like those tires quick time dot) the car just works we get lucky sometimes we built that one out of spare parts. Good luck with your A-body.

Like you said before. First time ever drag racing.

Get the frame connector in and get so more practice in. You will do just fine.

You don't mention you 60' times. Their should still be alot in that car.

You say 3000 stall on the converter but dont say what brand. I think you could use a little higher stall. Call frank or Shawn at Dynamic converters. they do wonderful work.

I have a 71 dart with only a 340, This weekend I went a 12.6et with a 1.81 60'

Sub frames are my next project.
