or should I have said tri power Restoration The adapter to any Holley pattern was $150 from Vintage Speed Progressive linkage from Speedmaster Air cleaners from Ebay The Outboard carbs are identical except 1 is manual choke. They are 278 each CFM The center carb has about 15 percent larger venturis, so that would be about 42 CFM more for a total of all 3 at approximately between 850-900 which will work for a hot 360 magnum, Parts are available for them, a guy told me he would send me the factory settings, and tuning info jet sizes, etc I messured and think I will have 3/8 inch hood clearance, without air filters
I think the first was the 1957 Oldsmobile. They also had a weird option later on that had five two barrel carburetors. A Ten Pack?
Oh it's not mine. It's on the internet. What I want to know is, what kind of air cleaner did it have? I've not been able to find that yet. I bet it was pretty cool.
Interesting that three outboards have the fuel bowl to the outside, one to the inside? Whoever mounted the carbs has no idea how they go..... carb linkage might be a clue, if there was any.....
Of those choices in the poll, J2 is the right answer, but I think the caddy might have had triple two barrels in 56. If you talking three carbs, you have to go further back.... The Olds predated the 348 by a year, the 406 and 421 by five. (But there was a tripower389 Pontiac by 58, and a 352/390 Ford somewhere around that time)
I too chose the Oldsmobile option, but I believe Cadillac was the first. Enjoy your retirement BJ, like most working folks you earned it.
Yeah, that's crazy... it was a Novarro if I remember correctly? Now let's see, if the OP were to mount two of his adapters sideways on a dual quad manifold, he could have a twelve pack...
56 Cadillac Eldorado (and 55 and 57 as well) had two 4-barrel carbs. Didn't get three 2-barrels until 1958. Aftermarket three 2-barrel carb setups go back a long way (plenty of flathead Fords, for example), but I believe 57 Oldsmobile was the first factory 3x2 set up. Edit: forgot that Pontiac got tri-power in 57. So Olds and Pontiac were the first.
Looks like it was Ford. Google Image Result for https://i.pinimg.com/474x/25/a3/19/25a3196c9a1479be232646e6cb2e588d--beer-week-six-packs.jpg
Edelbrock 3x2 intake for a 318 poly. I thought about putting this on my 56 Plymouth, already have the intake, but the carbs and air cleaners would have cost close to a thousand dollars. I decided to stick with the original four barrel intake.
sweet , had one of them a few years back , sold it and now i've got a two fours for a poly . afb's fit it .
another 150 from air cleaner , and i'll be making another lid for it . not sure about those three groves , would like it tobe finned .
