For anyone who's put a floor pan from a 67+ A-body into an early A, What are the biggest problems? I've seen some pictures from old threads here, but they are usually small or lack detail. Our floor is pretty much gone and needs to be replaced and I'd rather not piece meal one together. I would probably need to do halves, or cut a full one down the middle just to get it inside anyway.

I've never replaced a floor, but to install a complete floor you would have to remove windshield and probably dash and steering column to get it in car.
I don't think it would fit from the side. And you would definitely need 2 to 3 people to maneuver it. Lots of stuff to scratch inside if not protected well.

If you don’t need a full floorpan, Autobody Specialties (IIRC) sells fronts and rears for early A’s that fit quite well with a bit of trimming over where they fit over the inner sill. If using a front and rear pan, it leaves about 6-8 inches of original floorpan between the two. I used a less expensive 67-later pan in a 65 Dart Convertible years ago as they were all that was available at the time. Lots of work to get them to fit right, especially since the early pans are now available.

Here are 4 photos of a new floor for a 67 Dart 2 Door.

You would be surprised how handy this floor is to have around for doing all kinds of things, shifter console setups, bucket seats, layout carpets to get creases out of them, get ideas for floor repairs, see where you would need to cut back your old floor if you have rust issues, endless possibilites. Have not had to use it yet but nice to have around for working on the A Bodies. I like the way this one can seam together at the factory seam just below the back seat, probably easier it get it inside the car to start with too. Other replacement floors go farther up over the roll in the back if you have rust issues right there, but are harder to seam in. I think those are for the newer 73 up A Bodies . . not sure on that one though.

Hope this does you some good !

The Dart floor is shorter because of the footwells. Plymouth floor is longer because it would be one piece with
no separate footwell pieces.

I think a this point, we're probably going to need a full floor, well the center hump "might" be ok, but the rest is rot.

I'd cut it in 2-3 pieces from side to side like along the torsion bar crossmember, and in front of the rear foorwell, so the pieces would fit through the door. Then stitch it back together before I removed the windshield and dash. JMO.

I was thinking the same thing except cut it right down the middle.

If the larger piece in the back will fit through the door, I would keep the ends on something structural like I was saying. The torsion bar crossmember is the best spot. But you got to do what you got to do.

Never tried it. Might work. I will defer to those more knowledgeable.

No AMD doesn't sell just the fronts. Only pass or drv side. 1/2. That's the problem I only needed the pass side front. Found it on ebay. Google the part number you see in the first picture. You will find it. $93. Great price.

Autobody Specialists, isn't AMD, but I'll take a look...

And actually, AMD doesn't sell anything for an early A, that's the problem. :)

What year are you working ? That part comes up as a 67-76

Google m224r Sheet metal. It pops up. Gotta look for the one with free shipping. AmMuscle I think? Or something close to that.
.

Ah, well of course it fits, I'm looking for a floor for a 65. Totally different beast. They don't make them, well they do "sort of" but I'm looking at putting a floor from something like your car into an early A. It's not so cut and dry unfortunately.

BTW, nice job on your floor :)
