I've read standard LA mounts will work for the magnum engine, but the set I got it isn't quite right.

The passenger side bolted up fine, but the driver's side has about 3/4" gap between the rearward mount point and the bracket.

These are spool type mounts fyi.

What did you use?

Schumacher mounts. They bolt up perfect. That’s in a 1965 barracuda with a magnum. I’m sure their spool mounts would work perfect too

Put some washers in the space, no need to spend money.

What year and make car? Which size Magnum engine?
Since you said spool type mounts, I assume you are trying the Schumacher mounts. Since you said there is a gap, I assume you are installing a 5.2 Magnum engine. With all these assumptions, I will guess you are trying to install a 340/360 engine mount onto a 5.2/318 Magnum engine.
If this is the problem, order the correct 318 style mounts.

I thought the 5.2 and the 5.9 use the same mounts.

...unlike the 318 and 340/360 that use different mounts on the driver's side.

To answer - this is a 1971 Duster /6 Currently. I am replacing the /6 K frame with a spool mount V8 K.
I'm putting in a 360 Magnum (I was told the 318 and 360 mag's had the same mounts, maybe that's incorrect? )
Attaching a photo of the engine for reference.

What I believe I have figured out is that I have 318 LA Mounts which is why I have a gap.
So my options are to use a spacer, washers, or pick up a 340/360 mount.

Either way cheap and easy fix, and I will most likely fabricate a spacer.

Thanks all for the assist!

NOPE! They're different. The 5.9 will use the 340/360 mounts the 5.2 uses the same as the 318. I know because I did this conversion and went through all the head ache of finding out! Do yourself a favor and order the correct mounts!
Make sure it's for A body and not E body again different.

I think the mount spacing has to do with spacing of the bores.

They never fixed it because they kept building LA trucks until 92 or 93, and they kept that part of the foundry molds, in my opinion, to ensure they still had enough blocks for warranty replacements for a few years after production. Same reason I think they kept drilling LA oiling holes in Magnum blocks for a couple years.
This is just an opinion.

So what would the “Correct mounts” be?
Is it as simple as order 1974 A body 360 spool mounts from any parts jobber/RockA/eBay and bolt them on the magnum 360?
I’m in the same spot, thought about welding some spacers in but would rather buy a correct mount that will just bolt right in.
And yes... I need it spelled out for me.

If you have a small block k-frame, you simply order correct mounts for your application, same as if it was an LA engine.
If you have a six cylinder k-frame, you can order the correct conversion mounts.
If you are replacing the k-frame, just order the correct LA style mounts for whatever application that k-frame was originally from.

I agree, but you and I both know that makes to much sense! Lol

Ya but then what do you do every time that had the old 360 block orders a new one? Include a spacer or a new mount?

You gotta think about retrofitting from Chrysler's side.

So I’m having some “finding” issues...
everywhere I’ve checked (parts stores) list only 318 mounts. (same part number 360-318)
I don’t want to order from RAuto because they will charge shipping to return if wrong.
None of them list 340 mounts at all or they cross to 318 part numbers also.

Would you or anyone else have part numbers by chance? Or a reliable source?
