    ...klotz been oil, that is

i used to be really enjoy dirtbiking, in fact, i still got a pair of KDXs in the garage, as well as a TT-R125 for the missus

well, you know how life gets in the way, kids show up and somehow time just is no longer available

we decided to go up north for the weekend, and were thinking of bringing the fourwheeler for the boy
well, then i figured it might make sense for me to bring a bike so i can tag along
went outside tried firing up my "main" bike, a KDX200, street legal with a oversized tank, which hadnt ran in year now

kicked her over about a dozen times, and nothing
so i opened the tank, and noticed the cap is cracked (my guess is the vent got clogged, it got hot, expanded and blew the cap wide open) and the tank is bone dry

its a two smoker, so i cant just pour gas into it and go (plus, i dont want to run it with a busted cap anyway)

so, i went to my "buddy bike"
also a KDX, but this one a 220
i bought it dirtcheap and in pieces once, knowing i could pull the parts i needed to know if it would run from my main bike before putting any real money into it

well, this one fired on the 3rd kick...needed a little time to warm up but i ran her around the house a few times

now im sitting on the couch and i smell like klotz been oil...i missed that smell

Mmm.... the sweet smell of Klots and Castor oil ! Hard to pass a guy (or girl ) when they are burning either.
KDXs were awesome woods bikes ! Closest you can get to a KTM in a Jap bike.

especially after i replaced the front end on my 200 with one from a KX

        Two stroke exhaust is intoxicating.
I still have on in pieces. Need to get it back together.
Motogp is not the same after going four stroke, sniff sniff...

This is mine. I'll be riding it to a vintage two stroke show later today if the weather holds off.

I used to ride a Yamaha IT175 in the woods when I was young and dumb(er). The RZ is like two of those motors joined at the crank.

I used to race an MGB in the early ‘80’s in SCCA. We would be grouped with other classes to make a large enough field. Included were “D Sports Racers”, which were small pure bred race cars with two stroke bike engines. Lapping Laguna and Sears Point with those cars, gawd, i’ll Never forget the smell...it was awesome.

Beautiful RZ Brian. I had one, stripped it, sent the cylinders to be ported by Scott Clough. Bought an Aprilia RS250 Cup bike, put everything in that chassis. Lost second gear, had to strip it down again. It’s in parts and I am in Afghanistan. It gets love after I finish my restored on my Barracuda. That RS is an incredible chassis.

Thanks guys. I've always ridden two strokes. I've also got this 62 Vespa 150 that I run around town on.

When racing motocross when i was younger (late 70s early 80s) the big thing was Bel Ray 50:1.
It had that sweet smell, but we ran Amsoil 2 stroke oil @100:1 which had almost no smell or smoke.
I am a big believer of the Amsoil 2 stroke oil, because when you tore the engine down in the winter to refresh it, there was virtually no wear on the cylinder or rings and the engine would have good compression still.
The carbs had to be jetted down a few sizes though to run it..............
I did like the sweet smell of Bel Ray or bean oil though, it sure brings back memories!

            Roger on the 100-1 Amsoil.

Used it in the 70's in my Polaris and Artic Cat sleds...my 40-1 buddies swore I'd burn mine down.
