should I convert my currently installed mallory YL579hp distributor for what I believe is the factory dual point I found under the seat.... I believe the factory was swapped due to the vacuum advance can will not hold a vacuum or convert my cast iron distributor ( the factory one is an inch shorter and my wires won't hit the wiper motor)
from points to electronic ????

Nice 69 340 dual point. They run great if set up correctly, biggest issue with them are the small ground wire to the breaker plate breaks. I would run it if it is free!
Just remember the dual points take a different cap and rotor than a normal aluminum mopar distributor.
