Front grille 67 barracuda removal

I can spread the stainless moulding apart and the grille seems to simply fit in the groove but has no screws holing it in. I want to remove it so I can paint it.
Is there a trick to separating the grille from the molding?

I taped off chrome to paint due to delicate aluminum
Sheet material. Easily can be bent out of shape. But can be removed gingerly
With patience.

Carefully spread the surround a bit if you want. With enough repeated movement it would break at the pointed end. Open and close once wont be a problem.

They come apart just take it easy. I painted mine too. But I painted all of it.
