I'm having holy hell trying to get the passenger side quarter window linkage to operate correctly. I had everything out to clean, replace necessary parts and lubricate. Everything is finally back inside the cavity and all rollers, regulator, guides, etc. are in place. The problem is that when I roll the window all the way down, there doesn't seem to be a firm stop at the bottom position. The crank just starts to bind a little bit, but doesn't stop to keep you from rolling down too far. When it goes down too far, the small white roller that moves in the slide that is welded to the interior panel moves too far to the front of the car and pops out of its slide.

I know there are physical up-stop brackets that keep you from rolling up too far, but I don't see anything that stops it at the bottom

The regulator on the driver side works great. It rolls down, and when it gets to a certain point, there is a firm stop that doesn't allow you to continue cranking on the window. I still don't see what is stopping it in the correct final down position though. Is there supposed to be something in the regulator gear that does that? Any help/suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

This is about where the regulator gear should stop (or maybe just a tad further), based on the way the driver side works.

And this is about where the white roller should be when the regulator gear stops.

But, when the crank doesn't stop where it should, it allows the white roller to pop out of its track like this. Then, of course, the window won't roll back up because this roller is out of its track. :BangHead: :BangHead: :BangHead: :BangHead: :BangHead:

Worst job on the whole car ! There are little angle brackets that bolt to the inside of the inner wall to stop the glass.
At least on the doors. Not sure for the 1/4 glass. But I would think so.
Maybe check for those.

Thanks. Yes, there are angle brackets that bolt in to stop the window in the "up stroke". They stop the window at the top when you're raising it. What I'm looking for is what stops the whole apparatus at the bottom when you;re lowering the window. That's where the regulator gear doesn't seem to have a firm stop and it allows the roller to pop out of its track.

you are using the original hardware? reason I ask is, I misplaced one of the short rear guide channels sometime between when I took the car apart 25 years ago to around 3 years ago when I put it back together. I purchased one from an a-body barracuda but it was too short and I had the same problem. It would pop out of the track.

I thought I had read somewhere that the regulars have an adjustment on them near the window crank. I don't know if the rears would have the same?

Yes, this is original equipment. In fact, the one that keeps popping out, the track is welded to the inside panel, i.e not replaceable.
I'll look for some kind of an adjustment. Thanks.

i rember that i had on my 66 B Body a stopping "cam" adjuster. its a 1/4 locknut you can adjust the cam with the screw driver. the adjuster cam is located at the travel end of the big gear "housing"
