I have a 73 scamp with a carter electric fuel pump and I need to regulate the pressure. my fuel lines are in the stock location. I need to know where the best place to mount the regulator inline without any crazy twists or bends

Put it in a place convenient for you so you can adjust it, forward of the fuel pump.

It's not uncommon to have a regulator mounted up near the carb.

My Carter fuel pump doesn't need a regulator[?].
