Ok I'm putting a stroker engine in my dart and wanted to upgrade my fuel system a little. I looked at a few aftermarket mechanical pumps and it seems the inlet and outlet on them are small 1/4 inch. I don't see how using a bigger fue linel say 3/8 over the 5/16 line be will any better since the pump is even smaller then both. I was gonna get a new 3/8 sending unit and use same size line but to do that and go down to a 1/4 inch pump inlet makes no sense. Who makes a good sending unit and maybe a new tank. Thanks

The 1/4 inlet you're seeing is 1/4 NPT size. NOT 1/4 inch. Waaaay bigger than 3/8 fuel line. I'm supporting 562 horsepower with a Carter mechanical pump (1/4NPT inlet/outlet). Using 6AN fueline and a 3/8 pickup. Shifting at 6600 with no signs of starvation......yet.

Did recently hear the Carter pump probably won't keep up the pressure real long. Something about the diaphragm weakening over time. Hope it ain't so!

Yes, you have to adapt DOWN from 1/4" NPT to even 1/2" fuel line, much less 3/8" or 5/16". You will be good to go with that fuel pump as long as it has an ample GPH rating.

Welcome! I think I got my 3/8 sending unit from, of all people PST. I happen to see it in their catalog when I ordered my front end kit.

Worked out perfect.
