Is there any special length a fusable link has to be?I did the headlight relay conversion, boy what a difference, Getting ready to eliminate the bulk head connections but leave the amp meter wired.I'm going to use 8 gauge wire from alt to starter relay but the only 12 gauge fusable link wire was in a 4 ft length.Does it matter how long it has to be?

I get them from my local jobber in singles pkgs. They are about 8 or 9 inches long and come with the identifier flag "fusible link", just like the OEMs.They are also color coded just like the OEMs.They are occasionally pre-terminated on at least one end with a ring-terminal.
I would keep it short, as the originals are.

the length shouldn't matter all that much - a wire has to run where it has to run. I like this style.. but to each his own.

I have read 4 to 9". Purchased terminated ones are about 6". Terminate with crimps, insulate crimps with heat shrink, do not solder.
