Just to add some information, a stock '63 gas tank uses an "O" ring, not a grommet.

Hmmm. Interesting.
This is what my tank had on it when my gas tank rusted through on my 63 Valiant 25 years ago.

You can use the '64-6 tank and grommet in a '63, and a '63 tank and it's "O" ring in the '64-6. Just can't mix and match tanks and seals.
