Following the hint of another member I post the pics and videos again in this forum/thread. There is quite a Mopar-scene in Germany.

On the 2nd of May 2015 the Mopar Spring Fling Stade took place in Stade, Germany. A lot of cars were there, including a matching numbers 1970 Hemi Superbee with 4speed (Pistolgrip) in Plumcrazy. Also some pretty cool Survivors!!! A lot of B-bodies and A-bodies came together to create an awesome event!

how the heck did so many mopars end up in Germany? Nice! MT

Germany has no Mopar-tradition, different to Austria or Switzerland.

Germany has no US-car tradiition at all, because of their own car industry, but in the last two decades a lot of US-cars, especially Mopars, were imported from the USA to Germany.

The German classic car enthusiasts have exquisite taste....

How about, at peak, 277,000 GIs in Germany from 1947-1989? This number does not include their dependents or civilians there to fill positions prohibited to the Germans for security clearance issues. Cars were sold by GIs to Germans, or they could buy cars at auction from local property disposal offices. One of the major problems that a German would have purchasing a US made car would be obtaining TUV approval. TUV is sort of like Underwriters Lab in the US but they also handle vehicle inspections.

The PX system had Chrysler concessionaires at many locations. There was a central lot up near Bremerhaven. If it was not available there, then a car could be special ordered from the states. I got an 86 Daytona this way. The pipe with the catalyst was placed loose in the rear of the car. When I brought it back, I had 30 days to have it installed.

When I was in Germany in 2003, I saw a Mercedes dealer with a bunch of LX bodies on the lot. Two of which were Dodge Magnums with Chrysler 300 front clips. IMO they looked better than regular Magnums.

What I noticed from the photos was a number of cars with Hamburg registrations. That makes the Mopar show that much more amazing to me. The US forces were, for the most part, in the south. There was a brigade of 2d Armored Division in the north and a small force in Berlin that would have had Chrysler concessionaires at their post exchanges.

Nice Mopar event you put together down in Germany. Here in Sweden we have Mopars at the Strip at Orsa Dragway between July and August.

You have a bunch of nice cars down there. Would be nice to set up a big European Mopar event!

The event was in the north of Germany (in "Stade"). Near Hamburg. Hamburg is the richest city of Germany and it has furthermore the highest Mopar density of Germany. Many of the cars were imported in the last years (back to 2000 or so).

In Austria for example we had a dealer (Tarbuk), were you could order Valiant, Chrysler and Plymouth. They were mounted in Hamtramck and delivered to Austria. But these cars were very expensive. The price was higher than an E-Type Jaguar...

I knew that more recently that Mopar mini-vans had been assembled by Steyr in Graz(?). I don't know if that is still happening.

I am amused with your avatar. Lordoffrisco, eh? There's a town by that name near here. It's a nice place and growing rapidly. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Frisco,_Texas

The comment under the picture needs to be spoken carefully around these parts. Offer that up at the wrong place, wrong time, and wrong person and you may find these fine products, pictured below, used on you. LOL JK

Yes, in Graz (Capital of Styria, Austria) were in a former Steyr-Puch-Plant (Steyr built cars, motorcycles, bikes and weapons for decades...), now a Magna-plant, Voyagers and Chrysler 300 C assembled for years. But the production for Chrysler came now to an end.

Also Mercedes G (former Puch G) and some other cars were there assembled.

I drove such an 300 C Hemi for quite a time and it was a very well manufactured car.

I remember seeing a very cool blue 68 Coronet racing around a road course in Germany on some youtube video. There's something about these 68/69 Super Bees that gets me going. I even have a 68 Super Bee T Shirt.

... the trunk of a Duster has some advantages:D

The name lord of frisco is inspired by the song "Lords Of Frisco" by the Tazmanian Devils.

Because of this there is also a "Walter-P.-Chrysler-Platz" (Walter-P.-Chrysler Square) in Graz. :D
