Every plastic PCV valve i've used squeaks like crazy, on both motors I've had in my Dart. At one time I had one with a metal base and that didn't squeak at all, no idea what happened to it! It's a 360 (71) with stock valve covers. Are there any good quality PCV valves we can buy that don't squeak?

Never had that problem even using the cheapest POS PCV valves I can find.

Had idle issues with my 360 build, went with an actual Mopar Performance PCV valve, idle issues disappeared. guess it has a little stiffer spring, so less vacuum lost at idle.

So, by the rationale that says to buy a 130 dollar PCV valve, I guess you should spend 30K on every engine build.

        That's just stupid.

I don't care who you are. $130 for a PCV valve for a street engine is just plain stupid.

For a cheap alternative PCV that will properly close down to a low idle flow even with the lower idle vacuum of a moderate cam, you can use the FRAM FV191. But it is larger in diameter where it goes into the grommet so you have to mod that. It was used for a 70's/80's 4 BBL GM V8, and you can search applications with that info for alternate sizes/shapes.

I tried the Fram FV191, the Mopar performance 4343581 worked better at idle.

I can say them same about anyone who would spend 100k on a 50 year old car.

Don't spend what you can't afford. That's when it stupid.

I bought mine and was happy to do it. I also pay $20.00 a quart for oil. If you can't afford it, don't do it. But it isn't stupid if you can afford it.

Good deal... what is your idle vacuum level? Our is 14-15" and it closes down well at that vacuum level. If yours is lower, then the FV191 may open up to cruise flow and mess with the idle mixture.

No, there spending money on enjoyment or speculating on a cars worth.

                    Agreed
$20 a quart for oil IS stupid. Bar none!
$20 a quart of a very particular special oil is very different.
If you think/know your engine is that kind it f special, then enjoy!

                    $130 for an PVC?

Did you get lubed with KY with that or just a picture?

                    Nope. I did my research.

And yes, my shit IS that fing special. So a quality oil is worth it.

So was a quality made PCV valve.

12 at idle, with the 191, had about 10 and a rougher idle.

Thanks for the data; that is good to know... it means the FV191 opens up to cruise level flow around the 12"+/- vacuum range. I figured it was down there somewhere. And good to know there is something with a lower opening vacuum. Tnx!

Damn let the guy spend what ever he wants for parts for HIS car, what does it matter. There are times I've spent way to much for things I really didn't need for my car too just like the rest of you folks. Lighten up a little.
