Hello guys,
Radiator shop taking quite a time to fab up end tank type radiator. I saw Griffin has a traditional top and bottom core deal. PN: 5-70155. Will it cool 800hp on street. Running 727. Thanks.
 
That's a good question. I'm not a thermodynamics expert, so I would call Griffin and see what they say. 21 x 17 core with two 1.25" rows. I don't know. Maybe. Ask them how many cooling fins per inch. You want a high efficiency core. That's 14 - 16 cooling fins per inch. If that Griffin won't do it, call US Radiator. Every one of their radiators is custom made and they will make a brass/copper that will cool the space shuttle.
 
I have a Mopar friend that has a restoration/body shop. He works on a lot of high end builds. He's done several Hellcat swaps and Griffin is the only radiator that he uses, he says the only one that will cool his projects. You get what you pay for in this case.
 
There are several threads here about “direct fit” Griffin radiators not being “direct fit” and not cooling well…

Radiators often get blamed for poor cooling performance.....when it is other system components that are the problem. Case in point is my GTO. I had a custom made alum rad for it, two rows of 1" tubes. Temp would still creep up on hot days. The ultimate fix was the water pump. I modified the 455 engine to take the SB Chev Edel Victor #8810 water pump. These pumps are not cheap, but when you remove the rear cover, you see why.....
The casting is completely new & where the impeller fits, fully machined with about 0.030" gaps. Six blade impeller; because of the tight gaps, ALL the water gets captured...& pumped through the engine. The pump made the biggest difference. Result is the temp toggles around 180*, under ANY driving condition, even on 40+* C days. It actually cools down slightly at idle.
