I thought that I would do a kinda "how to" on Ray @halifaxhops Slant 6 HEI ignition. It's a nice kit and easily adaptable to the stock slant 6 electronic ignition distributor. I'm not quite done with it, but follow along on what I have done so far and I'll update more later.

Here is the distributor upside down. You can see the new drilled drain hole and the tapped hole for the HEI plate. The drain hole gets tapped to 10-32. Then the new drain hole is drilled.

Don't mind the RTV. It was there for another project. lol

This shot shows the HEI plate fit. The fit is nice, as you can see. The innermost two holes on the plate, closest to the distributor shaft are the two holes to mount the module. The two outer holes are for the two tits on the module to locate it. I said tits. (*) (*)

Here it is with the module located and installed. Yes, I put the included heat sink goo on the module.

Another angle. When you get the tits lined up, the module will mount flat down on the plate like this.

Lastly, from the "top". This kit is nice and an easy way to convert your slant 6 to HEI. I'll post more pictures when I get it finished. Thanks for following along.

Nice write up Rob.

halifaxhops Slant 6 HEI ignition. It's a nice
I don't agree, on one important detail:

HEI on a Slant-6 is a terrific choice of ignition upgrades. That under-the-distributor mount for the module, though, is not a good idea. It's a great place for it on a V8 with its distributor up top, but on the Slant-6 it puts the module down in the road-splash zone. Up on the inner fender is a better idea.

Dan I do agree. I put alot of research on getting the right connectors and waterproofing them for that Waterproofed the same way we used on aircraft. How many still have the splash shields? And was asked a lot also If I can make it look stock. There are cannister style coils for the OEM brackets.
