found one thanks all for your help
FYI: /6 , SB, BB all take the same bolt.
I saw a crank bolt somewhere on my overcrowded workbench earlier today - just a bolt no washer
striked out at dealer, how much for it and to ship to 48336?
Lemme see if I can find/see it innall the overcrowded mess
Its a 3/4-16 X 2.25 (just checked one I think is correct out of the tool box). Use your LA's and then remove it after it has pressed on the balancer. Many did not leave the plant with a bolt after the balancer was pressed on. Should be 1 1/4 or 1 1/8 socket.
If you haven't found one yet, PM me and I will send you one just cover postage when you get it. I am by Kalamazoo so it should only take a day or so.
Take the one killerslant has offered as I the one I thought I had is actually smaller
They're all a different length, but, same diameter, thread, and wrench size.
You haven't found one at the dealer, because they didn't use one. You can certainly add one, though.
They did so use one. Not common, in fact I don't remember seeing one on any early slant, but, in the later part for the '70's and later, lots of trucks had them. Mostly manual trans applications and engines with the multigroove balancer.
Ok. I'll it this way. "I" have seen and worked on a LOT of slant sixes in the forty plus years I've been workin on cars and "I" have never run across one that had a crank bolt in it. That includes the lots of them I've seen in junkyards and everywhere else. So the vast majority "I" have seen did not come with them. Does that make you happier?
Sure! It's just I owned and drove a '78 D150 225 435 4speed as a daily driver for over 20 years, and it had one from the factory.
I parted out a few that had one too. Part# 6025547. It's shorter than a small block one, but, slight longer than a big block. I think I sold all my extras to some slant 6 racers, but, I can look around for a sample if need be.
