HAS ANYONE USED DETROIT MUSCLE TECHNOLOGIES WINDSHILED AND REAR GLASS CLIPS?

-
Hi Folks

Just got the glass installed in my 1971 Demon. I installed brand new DMT clip kits for both front and rear prior to installation. Come to install the stainless trim and the clips don't work worth a crap. Looking at the originals, there is a slight difference in their shape. Does anyone have any tips?

The originals did not have 2 different sizes.....They were all the shorter ones. These DMT clips are the same height, but won't catch.

Clips cannot be removed with the rubber gaskets installed.......HELP!

Thanks FABO
I just replaced the front and rear windows in my 71 Demon. I used the DMT clips and I got them to work but it was a Bear! Make sure the front bottom middle 5 are the longer ones. I ended up using a 1-1/2”x3/4”x 6” piece of plastic l had from a different project and I found that if you held it on the outside edge of the trim and hit it with a rubber hammer in a down and it direction, it would open up the clip just enough to slid the trim down and into place. I know it sounds weird but it worked very well.

I used all smalls, and the windshield trim was easier than the rear.

In the close up pic of the clip, I found that opening them up so that the inner part of the tang was even with the tip of the screw head.

LOL......Looking at your pics gave me the willies......I was glad to have that job behind me. The liquid butyl was horrendous to keep off of everything.

After seeing this post I thought I would have a close look at my repop clips and compare them to the originals. For some reason I bought 2 sets of front and rear clips and they are different makes. For the front, one set is from National Moparts and the other set is OER. The OER clips aren't even close. The National Moparts clips are a little bigger. I will try and use the leftover originals but 1/3rd of them are scrap. Will the National Moparts clips even work?

Thanks for this info, Im gonna be replacing my glass and was going to buy new clips as well. I had thought Id go OER, but not now. How fricking hard can it be to reproduce a tiny metal clip???? I mean, compare your original to the OER one, how could whoever designed that OER even remotely think that it was close, or good enough??

It makes no sense to me and its not worth returning. I think the National Moparts clips will work. I'll use the originals on the top and sides and the repros on the bottom.

Ya, it looks like the NM ones would work with a little bending if needed.
Id return them just out of spite with a message that said how shitty their part is and how badly designed it is.
