head line up pins-dows

I find myself in need of the pins that go to the block-heads.I think I can make some but I was wondering what you guy's have used?my thought was a grade 8 bolt cut down to proper length.have any thoughts???

Dowel pins ...? I would not make my own.

--> Mr. Gasket Cylinder Head Dowel Pins 4375 for instance.

I don't believe they have to be any sort of hard steel... they are just for locating the heads until the head bolts are torqued.
