Has anyone installed a classic industries abs vinyl headliner in there car. Do I need to put my windshield back in before pulling the gasket back over the headliner? Then did you also have to trim the headliner to fit correctly in the front corners so the gasket lays flat and not rippled. 72 demon

What car? Most you want the front and back glass out.

Is it a vinyl headliner that requires the bows, or is it a one piece replacement for the cardboard & vinyl headliner? If it's the one piece replacement, it will go in with the front glass out. If it's the one that requires the bows, I believe it tucks under the front & rear glass gasket.

I am not sure on a 72. My 74 I had to and then trim the headliner. To me was not a big deal had the glass already out. Bow type.

My 71 Demon has the one piece vinyl & cardboard headliner. It's attached on the outside edges, but its held up by my roll cage. I slid it in with just the front glass out, over the top of the cage.

It should slide in from the front, but I have no idea how it attaches in the stock installation as my Demon is a race car only without a lot of the stock interior pieces.

I think those abs headliners are a total rip-off... or are they like 220 $250? And you still going to trim them... And cover them!!
I built my own for like 60 bucks.. really it's one of those things that should have been a sticky, but I don't have that kind of pull...
    Look under..
can/has it been done?? home made headliner...

In the process of installing a one-piece plastic headliner in my 73 Sport. Test fit was done w/o the headliner vinyl on it. Went in with both front and rear glass installed. Had to do some minor trimming at the front and rear. The rear was at the corners where it slides under the gasket. The front was about 3/16 all across the edge.

When I fit the headliner originally, I marked it where it needed trimming. I also used some duct tape to hold the cuts in each corner where I wanted them. After removing it, I taped those corners on the back side and removed the tape on the front so it would hold it's shape. When gluing the headliner material to the plastic, I wrapped the material about 1 inch over the edge all the way around. When reinstalling it in the car, I found I had to trim about 1/4" at each corner in front, for a length of about 4 inches from each end, to get the weather strip to lay flat after tucking the headliner under it. Also had to cut one corner in the rear for the same reason. There was no issue with the material pulling away from the plastic after cutting it. I used the 3M headliner glue for mine. One tip - I wasn't sure what to use to cut the material / plastic when I needed to trim it without making a mess. The wife suggested her meat cutting shears, like heavy duty scissors. Worked like a charm.
