Hello everyone,
We are building a 64 Valiant 2dr HT Lemons race car. The rules state that it must have a collapsible column. Does anyone have suggestions, parts, etc.

Thanks,
Wes

Define collapsible.

Al least in 67 the column can collapse.

The outer column has a section of expanded metal, the column shift can slide on itself the center steering shaft the same.

I don't know when they started this type of column. If it was in 66 you might be able to do a bolt in swap.

If not you might be able to do a 67 up swap.

I read that in 68 they were a better collapsible column. I didn’t know if going with a Mopar column would be better or if I should go with something from Speedway or Summit.

All Mopar columns were collapsible starting with the 1967 model year. There was a change to the inner sleeve in 1968, but I don't think it makes a difference in the column being able to collapse.
