So i have decided to go manual steering, to clean the bay up and also give my self more header clearance. Also saves me nearly a grand in parts like the borgeson unit, custom lines and pump etc.
I have also deleted the ac, as it will again clutter up the engine bay and honestly on my other weekender I don't think have used the ac in ten years.
So i had been thinking whats the best way to have a neat set up as i know deleting accessories makes belt set up a bugger and you need to retain some pulleys for tension. So why not just run a electric water pump and just the alternator to harmonic balancer set up? Am i missing something?

So it would run like this, also the added advantage of i can have the water pump run on after car switched off etc. Again i think will also look a bit better than the mechanical pump as well.
Am i correct that i then can simply run the belt as shown, however as i type this i am thinking how would i tension the belt?

I would run the idler that replaces the PS pump and a shorter belt if it was me. I've never even looked for an electric water pump for the Hemi, do they make one?

Here is the bracket that bolts to the DS cylinder head and replaces the PS pump.

MOPAR 04593918AA Idler Pulley Bracket for 11-23 5.7L, 15-23 6.4L & 18-23 6.2L HEMI

Shorter belt looks to be a K060780.

This reminds me that I will need to pick up the same parts for my build. Thanks for the reminder!

Sorry, that was a derail.

Looks like they do make a setup, going to cost $1K for the back plate and pump though?

Here is how one guy got the belt to work. I guess there are (were?) kits to do this and not sure how it works without the AC compressor but maybe it gives you ideas?

I have it set up like that one of my 340's. Works great.

O nice one!!! that will work and nice and simple didnt realise they make a delete for the power steer as a stock item. Another part to add to the list haha

I just got it off the guys video, not sure he ever referenced an application.

When I punch it into RockAuto I do show it fits those though, as well as others.

Car engine covers seem to make that more difficult to work with. On my 06 engine I had the truck front cover with the high mount alternator and I ran it without power steering or A/C by just bolting an extra idler pulley to an open hole on the timing cover around where the A/C goes. Looking at the original assembly it seems like you might be able to just loop it up over the water pump, under the one idler, then over the alternator and back to the crank. Not as much belt wrap on the pump as stock, but tensioning is still a problem with that setup.

So…this is what I’m doing. Yes, to clean up the front of the ugliest engine on the planet…lol. I too have manual steering.

My friend trimmed the front cover and made a plate to mount a big block Chevy electric water pump. Along the way, I figured out how to use my mini alternator without much fuss.

I will be a one belt man: crank to alternator.

O wow i would be interested to see how it turns out. I am surprised that electric water pumps not really a thing for the hemi.

There is an electric pump for the hemi; one that I know of … and it’s $pendy!!!

As with anything Chevy related, there are many choices for quality electric water pumps. this should be a win win. Cheaper and nicer looking.

It's not cheap but I think black hawk performance is coming out with a new timing chain cover that will let you mount a big block chevy water pump with no adapter plates etc.
