HHR Fan on a 22" Champion Radiator

I remember several people were putting HHR fans on their radiator. Well I have couple of questions for them.
Did you cut into the shroud on both top and bottom to clear the radiator hoses?
How did you mount it to your radiator?

This is on a Summit rad, can't remember the size.

There is a little lip on the top and bottom of the shroud. I clamped it to the rad using aluminum angle, shims and nuts and bolts.

Awesome idea for cheap cheap, too bad my 08 HHR still needs its fan and shroud as its my commuter. I will be actively looking for one of these tho.

How well do they cool added to an aluminum radiator?

I have one too, it keeps my 5.7 hemi plenty cool... Even sitting in park or heavy traffic... I made a lip bracket similar to shown for the bottom of the radiator, and L shaped brackets for the top corners off the rad bolts. I'll try to get pics.

Interesting as I'm about to do a thread on Champion radiators AND I was thinking of using the HHR fan I have in stock. A buddy has an HHR fan on a generic Summit radiator in his bracket car and while it draws a lot of amps (and is LOUD) it cools really well.

The fit is really good on the 22"
