hiding the calendar?

i know you guys put a lot of effort into putting the calendar together, and its cool and all...but its just of no use to me, and i would just as soon not see it
is there a setting on my profile where i can hide it from the home page?

I think it's a good feature and hope it gets used. BUT, can you move it to the left? Or more importantly move 'watched threads' to the right? I use that and 'recent' most. When on my phone the 3 to the right is all I see without opening additional screens. Actually could move new posts left - that and menu come up in the top line, so I see it twice in landscape. I like 'recent' better than 'new' in case I want to look at/ continue reading something I already opened.
