Since I already had 3 holes drilled in my dash for a horn button in its earlier life, I took advantage of that to place a RAM 1” ball mount in its place.

I used a machine screw and nyloc nuts to hold it.

I was using a friction mount to hold the dash in place but decided to take some spare sheet metal to make it more permanent.

The glue and magnets approach worked so well for my MSD solid state relay on the interior firewall that I used another RAM mount with a neodymium magnet for the phone mount.

A full steel dash makes things a little easier to stick to!

They say you don’t need to clamp it for bonding but I used clamps for both applications. I think it will make a more robust attachment.

I got clued into the RAM mounts for my motorcycle, as they have lots of options that can be adapted.
