My sons freind took me for a ride in his Tesla. The quickest street car I was ever in. No noise. All you can hear is all four tires trying to grip. I was in a new Hellcat no comparison. My Duster wouldn't have stood a chance.

Never race a Tesla for cash on the street you will lose your money. It felt more like an amusement ride, The feeling in your gut from dead stop G-force is unbelievable.

They're obviously not everyone's cup of tea, but when they're done well I think they can be pretty cool. For instance this Tesla powered Mercury

Edit: I was thinking of the retro-fit idea like the OP's link. But as Oldmanmopar pointed out, the new ones are something else all together.

I'll put it in terms of two of my motorcycles. One,a Moto Guzzi 850-T carburetorated V twin and the other a BMW K100 RS a 4 cylinder water cooled computerized fuel injected thing. The Guzzi vibrates makes noise has gobbs of torque and feels real good as you blast down the road . The sound is almost like music. The BMW though way more powerful and smooth as silk whines and there is no real sensation of power and speed. In other words it's boring as opposed to exciting like the Moto Guzzi is.I think it would be no different with an electric car vs a gas engine one . It just has no soul. Speed isn't everything

I can’t wait for the eHEMI crate engine!
Seriously, a friend had an older Tesla and really liked it. He was impressed with the acceleration and quietness of the car. He sold it last year when his Sunbeam Tiger’s restoration was completed. He told me that he will eventually get a new Tesla because of all the improvements over his older one.

            I like the concept.

Any of you young enough may see the demise of gasoline and other internal combustion fuels making the need to switch a requirement if we are to keep 50-100 year old cars on the road.

It likely will be the future of vehicles unless fuel cell technology takes a large step forward. If electric cars are anything like my electric RC monster tuck, I'll take 2.

Ever see those Tesla battery's go critical? Can you say Chernobyl your garage?

This is where I'm at with the subject. I have a neighbor who has a friend with a Tesla and says how fast it was and all that.. he said at one point the computer glitched and everything shut down for a couple seconds and then pop back on and everything was fine.. definitely faster than my Duster no question..
BUT!!, There's a whole lot to be said for anticipation.. there's a reason when you get on a roller coaster that it Clickety Clacks real slow up to the peak of the ride before it drops you down that fast run.. anticipation!! The crackling of the pipes... the pounding vibration of the car... Stomping on the loud pedal in the front end Rises quickly and you're pushed back in your seat... The violence of banging 2nd gear with your 4-speed... I can hardly wait to give him a ride in the duster one of these times and make him crap his pants.....

                    225.00. !!

Holy crap .... then I have 10k worth of them in my closet !

I get to drive modern super cars and electric cars all the time. Sure they are fast but how much time do you spend going 0-60 in 2.8 seconds ? In our Mopars we get the feel and the sound and the crudeness that makes them a joy to drive. Plus we get to build and create them with our own hands .

Why does the US allow China and Europe to dictate what we build. We won the wars. And yet, they shove the half assed metric system down our throats, they determine what we drive because they pass laws over there, and the weak assed transglobal cabal that has been running American big business starting right after the civil war just jump in line.

No one was clamoring for this junk. For those of you who don't know your history, electric powered surface transportation LOST at the turn of the 20th century because it was useless. Now, the global warming hoax and retarded freaks who think they can control the weather are forcing this ignorant crap down our throats.

It's time to face facts. No one would buy an electric car if 1. We didn't have a bunch of morons who are influenced by a semi retarded European 13 girl who can't vote, drink, drive a car, sign a contract but she is somehow an expert on climate??? Really? WTF? And people actually buy into this shit? Damn.

And 2. If the government, which knows nothing, can do nothing, can build nothing would get out of the auto industry, gasoline powered surface transportation would rise to the top, in efficiency, power and reliability. It always has.

Instead, we give a multi billionaire freak HUGE subsidies (that's corporate welfare people) to build something no one wants.

Piss on electric cars. That's de-evolution.

Also, if you are old enough to have lived through the transnational cabal's wholly manufactured "oil crisis" in 1973-1974 then you know what a lie that was. Yet, that was the first big push to get Americans out of nice, fun V8 rear wheel drive cars into European Marxist inspired 4 cylinder FWD shit boxes. And it worked. Then public education went to work doing its baleful job of Marxist indoctrination convincing little retards that their fore fathers were criminals and earth hating bigots because they drove cool cars, rode motorcycles and had a standard of living to make the world neon green with envy. And look what we have just one generation later. This bullshit.

And don't even get me started on "peak oil" and "fossil fuels" which are both lies. Most people have no idea what crude oil is and where it comes from.

Electric cars will be the future ... soon !

                          1. They cost less to operate and maintain .
                          2. They are faster
                          3. They are quieter
                          4. They are/or will be cheaper to build due to fewer parts
                          5. They have no emissions ( battery disposal could become a problem)
                          6. CONSUMERS WANT THEM ! Even in conservative Idaho. I hear it all the time .

Wait till the Rivia and Tesla pickup trucks hit the market. Rednecks will be standing in line to buy one...

I drive an electric car everyday on my commute, It costs me about $4 in charging to go 60 miles round trip, so I'm saving money to put into my mopars that I ENJOY driving so much more! The technology is changing so fast I would never buy one, only lease.

4$ to charge it ? Thats a money maker ! I wouldnt have guessed it cost that much.
We have charging stations on the lot but they are not metered.

I liked what he was saying but the background noise was so unnecessary I don't do well with all that noise when somebody's trying to talk... If you could plug that to a noise canceller I can probably make it past the minute...
