How do you know if your springs are too strong for your fiberglass hood?

A body hood springs/hinges go bad on the pivot stud and they get stiff and eventually rip out the metal in the hood around the bolt holes. Make sure you have good hinges also.

Can you still order the small, low tension springs for AAR Cudas??

Yes. I recently got a set.

Those factory AAR Cuda, Ta hoods were of course fiberglass but well made. Factory made, NOT by some aftermarket co. called AAR! ha
BUT after so many years, even those hoods could warp a little. I used to take off the springs and just use a wooden dowel to hold it up.
