....and the father did most of work and drives it now. I am one of those that did, we started out well at first but after a few years and school and other activities got in the way and loss of excitement I claimed it and put more time and money in it to make MINE. I applaud those of you who actually pulled it off. In a big way I am happy with my outcome. My sons name is Logan and I can’t change my screen name.

I got Duster when I was 18 and it was a full race car. My dad and I made it back into a street legal car over the course of a few years while hunting for and restoring parts that he had and new items bought at swap meets.

He passed away last year and I have a kick ass car thanks to him and learned a lot. Some of the best times in my life were spending time with him in the garage working on the car.

When I have a kid I want to find an old mopar and do the same with them. Pass that along

We do several father/son road trips a year in It across the country and we tent camp everywhere we go. He can work on cars and paint he can drive it anytime he wants. Just can’t go home with him YET.

Did one with my son in HS and finished it while he was in college. Was not a Mopar but rather a 1973 Mach 1. Ground up, worked 351 W, N case rear, built manual only C4 matched to the engine, new beefed up springs, sway bar (1-1/4), roll cage, and on and on. We raced road courses for numerous years. He drove the Mach and I drove a 911 SC. Ran Pochono, Bridgehampton, bridge water, Watkins Glen, plus three or four other tracks. Did them all with race car clubs. He is 47 now, still has the car, still street legal, and looks stock outside. My 911 was completely redone in my garage after I retired and my wife and I use it as a fun cruiser and car show ride. Also use her 64 Valiant 200 conv as a driver quality show ride. Racing with my son and his friends on the track was one of the greatest times of my life.

Got one in the works right now. He’s 9, I’m 36, car is 48. Hopefully get it done before I catch up to the car or he discovers girls.

I helped Pop build his Duster.

I helped him get the sheetmetal in the '74 Barracuda.

After owning a restoration shop with him, I guess every project was a father/son project.

I'd me more worried about the cars than the girls.

My son has no interest in any of my old cars. Still trying to get him to quit drugs.

My youngest two are twins, boy and girl. Both experimenting with drugs, been in and out of court with them for the past year. Still trying to work with them. Hoping they will get the desire to have something in life. I've tried to get them to enjoy old cars with me just can't get them interested.

Ok, so we didn't really build it, but we enjoy this hobby together. This is his first pass ever behind the wheel earlier this year. 13.79 He saved and payed for himself. Car look different now, has chrome wheels, carbon fiber hood, after market rear spoiler, tailights, and halo headlights.

When Jake was 14, his 65 B'cuda found us. We started on it when he was 15. Got it done in time for the last half of his senior year of high school. 1300 kids between 11th and 12 grades and he had the only classic on the lot. He's 22 now and has grown the 318/904/3.23 to a 408/727/3.55.

Sorry yall. I wasn't trying to bring this thread down. Was merely trying to point out that if you have it good with your son, cherish it. You are blessed. Don't take one moment for granted. I am really glad for those of you who have good relationships. That is awesome.

My 13 year old son has no interest in cars. He is a sports nut! Good thing he looks like me! Maybe in a couple years. I am starting to look for another project as my current 1 is drivable and more needs money than time now. I hope to build it for/with him but I'll build it myself if not. My Daughter is only 9 and she doesn't have the attention span for it. She may change her mind too. I've decided I'm not going to push it, If it happens, it happens. I will say both of them have more interest in racing than wrenching. That would be OK too!

Me and my pops turned my 318, dart into a full blown race car over the last few years.
Now hes too old to do fab work so I'm building his 27 T drag car.

We don't always agree or even get along but we make it work in the end. I went over 20 years with out even talking to my dad (long story) but cars brought us back together.
In fact I convinced my women to leave our super expensive apartment and move in to my dads old house with him so she could pay off her student loans and pops dont have to be alone all the time.

Us building cars together turned out to be one of the best, most healing decisions I've ever made.

I wish I had, but my parents were divorced. My dad is thinking about retiring in the next couple of years and wants a '72 Corolla because that was his first car when he moved to the US. I'd hope that could be our Father-Son project. He's also mentioned wanting a flat-fender Jeep.

Tried to with my son but he had no interest at all. He's a sports nut. Which is fine with me.
