Building a 404 for my friend. X block, 4 inch stroke, 4in. Bore. Ported W2s 2.08 intake and 1.6 exhaust. 12 to 1 compression, crower solid roller 272 274 at .050, .624 .628 lift on a 106 lsa in at 104. Stripe dominator intake (ported) and a 950 Holley. I was hoping for 600. Thanks.

Depending on how extensively the induction system have been ported I think you'll hit your target.

Got any flow numbers for the heads? "Ported" could mean, worse than stock.

All about the induction system..working together. The intake might be a cork in the system if all else adds up with that 2.08 intake valve

Probably hit your target for sure, but that ain't a 404. It's a 402. 401.92 to be exact. lol

I was just guessing at the cubes so thanks. Heads look like a mild port job. Everything smoothed out and guide boss reduced and streamlined. Some bowl work also. I’m not a head porter so could be good or bad.

Ditch the strip(e) dominator intake and put a victor w2 on it with the biggest spacer that will fit. Put the biggest header on it that will fit the car. And it might get to 600. That’s if the heads were done well. A w2 with a light touch up should go 270s so I’ll guess you’ll be just shy of your goal.

Besides the stroker kit, all the rest he had on the shelf. We were hoping for 600 but 550 to 575 will work fine.

Intake is a door stop. Much better intakes out there today.

I just wrote a whole thing about how the Strip Dominator was too small and won't work with raised, round port W2s but I forgot there was a W2 version of it! I had one myself. That intake is very hard to find.

Both the plenum and the runners on the W2 version of the S.D. are WAY bigger than the standard LA one - it's actually a decent intake. If it's ported correctly you should easily hit your goal of 600 with that combo. 12:1 and a 272 @ .050" solid roller is no joke. My 11.3:1 416" hit 630hp and 567lb.ft. of torque with standard port BPE heads, a home port-matched Super Victor and a 263 @ .050" solid roller.

Here it is next to the Victor W2 it replaced.

I didn't cut the carb flange on this one, I got it like that. Looks like it's ready to swallow you whole. Regrettably, I sold all my W2 stuff years ago.
