How Much is a 1972 Plymouth Duster Worth

-
"For What It's Worth" Written by Stephen Stills, performed by Buffalo Springfield is way more entertaining than "what's my car worth", IMHO...

Good to know my home is worthless because I'm not selling. My balance sheet says otherwise.

That has to be one of the dumbest fallacy comments ever. Along the same line in the stock market, buy a stock for $100, it's now at $20 and people say you don't have a loss because you haven't sold. Ummm yeah not close to correct but OK.

What a shitshow of misinformation.

It is great when undesirable people reveal themselves early so you can identify them right away. From there you can put them on IGNORE or continue to be annoyed with their "contributions".

If you believed in the stock @ $100, time to buy 5x's more at $20... Or if you knew the stock was going to go to $20 you could have (a) Sold it, (b) shorted it, or (c) watch as 80% of your investment disappeared. You can make money when money is moving, and it doesn't really matter which direction it moves... There's some more "shitshow" of misinformation for you. "A fool and his money are soon parted." So, don't be a fool.

None of that has to do with your incorrect and ignorant premise. Deflect all you want. Off to ignore for you as you provide nothing of value. Later

I may have started all this and I'm sorry a new member god disciplined.

However...why do people feel the need to reply to a "WIW" thread and say "it's only worth what someone will pay"?

That argument does absolutely nothing to help the person seeking a value or help determining such.

In all fairness, it is 100 true, but again does nothing to help establish a value.

OTOH, there are ways to help determine a value, whether you are looking to buy and don't want to pay too much, or looking to sell and don't want to take a big hit.

...and it's really kind of simple. Just takes a small amount of work

I've been paying attention to 67-69 fastback Barracudas and 70-76 "29" body cars for the past 10-15 years.
If the right one comes along, for a fair price, or even better, at a great price, then I'm a player.

I've been following 66/67 Coronets and 68-70 Super Bees even longer.

To show for all that, I tend to get real good deals on cars I choose to buy.
I gave an example of that, early in the thread.

I do understand there are some "I gotta have that car, and I don't care how much I pay" buyers, but to base your entire selling philosophy on waiting and basically hoping for that one in a few hundred thousand buyer is...IMO very silly. Especially if you want to move the car in a reasonable amount of time.

To go back to the real estate comparison, who in their right mind would price a house they wanted to sell at 600K in a neighborhood of 350K houses, and just wait for the right buyer?

You wouldn't. A smart realtor would counsel the seller and suggest maybe starting at 375 instead.

Of course, until the past year, the RE market has been "offers over asking" but that generally doesn't last forever.
