How much should a basic 340 rebuild cost?

I simply made a comment about what I figured that it would take to rebuild a 318 and junkyardhero and 340six started in and as per usual I get the blame.

Us start? Nope if JYH or I ( or anyone alse who is a member here)posted something clearly far fetched every one would want proof.
Why? Since something might get bought or done out of the norm today.
We share interesting things here as we as FABO have a shared interest.
So let's say someone finds a 1970 Cuda 340 4 speed in a garage with 1400 miles and buy it for a dollar a mile.
Car is mine and paid for, but seller won't let me have car untill we can go to DMV together. Does not want a car still in their name not under their control.
Can't find the tittle. Still looking.
The membership here is going to want pictures of car. They do not post any. Internet-based problems.
Car is in no mans land so can't upload pics. Days go by we are back home but a storm hit so now internet is still out. The ad is gone too. I tossed it out.

Dealership times were less .

We would give a firm quote with these guides, and most often beat the time significantly, and give the customer a deal.

Take the 1970 time in $$$ multiply it times 10? figure a new car was 3 grand then, now a new car is 30K? etc.

I'm at 6K CDN 2 or 3 years ago into a stock 340 build with one sleeve and cast pistons.......I assembled it with the exception of frost plugs, cam bearings, and dist drive bushing.
