I get asked this all the time. I have a condenser tester but I do it daily this will work for you. This is for a analog meter but a digital works you will see the voltage spike.

Condenser Test
Attach the condenser wire to the end of a spark plug lead in a manner you don't have to touch the wire to disconnect, I just kinda lay them together.
Give the engine a short crank.
Holding the body of the condenser, pull it away, and pass it to a friend.
If the condenser is no good, he'll still be your friend.
If the condenser is good, he'll may not be your friend, and he may chase you around with the intention of doing you bodily harm. ! ! lol
