I am researching this article because I am upgrading my current stock distributor which currently has a basic pertronix magnet conversion, to an electronic performance distributor. My knowledge of vacuum advance adjustments is very limited. I do have an advance timing light. However I do not own any type of vacuum gauges or pumps. I may have to enlist one of my friends whom is a mechanic by trade and has owned a Mopar classic car. My car has the 225.

The only reasons to adjust the vacuum advance is if it is out of spec, or you've done some hot rodding to the engine. Simply installing the pertronix should not change specification noticibly. If you're drag racing, you might observe slightly less timing when checking at high rpm (above 3500 rpm).
