Not to derail your thread but since you have such a great picture of what I need. In the first post, second picture the triangular bracket on the back held on with two nuts. I need on in case you may have one.
I haven't had the chance to try re shimming my pump valve yet.
I only have the one bracket... Jeff
Thanks Jeff. Well done, but wheres the one for TRW pump?
Lol....they can't be much different. ...just a pump! Jeff
Ok can someone tell me if my TRW pump is a press on pulley? Looks like it but it has a large hex area at face of pulley? Thanks. 67 273 cuda if that matters.
Yes, it's a press on... The large groove on the hub of the pulley is where the 2 halves of the puller go around it to pull it off. Down inside that hex is threads too....they're used with the tool to press it back on. Jeff
Thanks Jeff, so no need to worry about hex part in the teardown? I'll check at work tonight for pulley puller.
Yup...that hex played no roll in removal or installation of the pulley... It MUST have a purpose because it costs money to machine it but I don't know it's purpose. Anyone else know what that hex is for? Jeff
Ok so did the "loan a tool" for a pulley puller from parts store. "Worked" ok. Was bottoming out before pulley was off completely. Jammed a junk socket in there to take up the slack. Worked perfect. I'll start teardown shortly. I meant to do some research on adding the shim. Not sure where they are available. Once I got pulley off, the seal looks real good with no signs of leaks. May just leave that seal well enough alone.
^^^ That puller is different from what I used....but it works Just be sure to use the installer and do NOT tap it back on with a hammer..... Jeff
Thanks Jeff yeah I was expecting a different type of puller, but this was as close as I could get. Installer?? Uh oh...
Yes, the installer will screw into the center shaft and push down on the pulley. ..as you screw it down more and more, it pushes the pulley on the shaft.... Jeff
No threads in the pulley, maybe on shaft under the seal?
The Saginaw has threads in the shaft the pulley goes on....results may vary! You might have to get crafty to press it back on but just don't beat it back on with a hammer. .... Anybody know how to press a TRW pulley back on? (There HAS to be a way) Jeff
Lol I thought I was losing my mind. I'll flip thru FSM and see if anything in there. We got a press here at work.
Picture of the puller I used for my Saginaw pump
Yep that's what I was hoping for lol. Judging by my FSM, looks like mine is the 1.2. No installer needed, press on....carefully lol
