Recently I acquired a 71 340 equipped with a hydraulic roller cam and Comp Cams retro fit juice rollers. One pair seems to be giving me some trouble with noise. I recently removed all the lifters and soaked them overnight in fresh mineral spirts/solvent. Using compressed air I blew them clean including the oil orifices. Is there any method to check to see if there is a problem with the plunger? Its seems a bit easy to depress the plunger on some but not others while using a pushrod in a drill press while the lifter sits in a V-block.

NO answers and I'm not an expert on thie
AFIK all retro lifters (that are made in USA) are made in the same place
IDK if there are foreign retrofits but that's a good question
do try that drill press test on a good and suspected lifter and post back
yoy should be able to feel the difference in pressure with your hand on the feed
if buying new lifters find out who actually made them and where

You could disassemble one of the good ones and one of the bad ones and compare the plunger spring in both. It may be the bad ones could just have a thinner wire gage of wire for the spring. It could be broken, or something else obvious one you take it apart.
