Hello guys its the Noob again...this weekend I took off my back wheels to paint the leaf springs and clean up some other things ....I drained my transmission and replaced the filter ..it has enough fluid in it ...So now my rear end has a knocking sound ....It sounds like someone is hammering something under there:angry7:...I have know idea what going on under there....should i check my gear fluid ..? please help its driving me crazy..:@:

Well, if it wasn't happening before you went to work on it, I'd revisit every bolt you took off and check for some loose lug nuts, a wheel that isn't TIGHT (steel or alum) will pop as the car rolls... don't ask me how I know :)

good one player......check all u joints aswell.......

Yeah, its one of those things that's so simple that you forget to do (tighten again after it gets set on the ground)...don't get me started... I recently found a pair of scissors wedged between the steering shaft and the fender well after investigating a slight scratching noise while turning. I had added some wire loom under the hood and used the scissors to cut the stuff...I must have missed them while cleaning up.... oooops.

MrKidd, I hope it's something as simple as that.....I'd much rather realize I forgot something than find out I have more money and time to spend. The point is that it's probably something simple unless there are a few 300 foot peg leg burnouts you aren't telling us about

ERrrrrrr i pulled the tire off tighted everything back down and the sound is still there....but i noticed that it only comes when im appling the gas ...so that makes me think it might be something wrong in the pumpkin.I didnt really want to buy a rear end already....time to hit the junk yard...

its the darn hubcap...i pulled the tabs out but its still making that clicking sound...he any you had this problem and whats a good way to make this stop.....I just pulled my hubs off for now...but i miss them already...lol Could a hubcap be warped and will never stop clickin..? it goes on really snug and it has no movement...

Try this ... wrap a round or 2 of duct tape arond the teeth on the cap. I dont know what kind of hubcaps you have but the tape worked for us at a tire store. Most times it was those factory locking hubcaps on 80 and 90 models.
