After a year an a half I finally broke down and decided to fix my A/C in my Jeep. When I bought it used the guy didn't want to fix, so I got him to take $400 off the asking price. We both knew it was going to need an evaporator. I started to take the dash out when a mess of wires and control modules came raining down. Looks like the last owner had an alarm, auto start and hands free phone installed. Who ever did the job completely cut and badly spliced wires into everything. They even spliced into the OB2 connector ( no sure why). Took me over an half hour just to repair all the crappy wiring. This is why I like factory stuff less mess or at least the job done right and clean. I crossed my fingers when I was done that my Jeep would run. Oh well at least I got it done and now and enjoy the cold air blowing out my vents.

Was working in a shop that "allowed" an a rolling aftermarket remote starter guy to use the bay in bad weather. I was walking by and just happened to glance over. He was under the hood, scotch locking the hot wire for the remote start into the injector control wire. I promptly slapped the damn tools out of his hand and started ripping him a new one.

When the damn thing develops a misfire or a no start, then I'll have to fix his f*** up. I just had, as he did the same damned thing on a 4.0L Jeep that I fixed two days before. Seems that was his MO, hacking into injector wires with scotch locks.

Customer had a an amp installed in her car by a local detail shop that also "did" stereos. She brought it to me for an intermittent no start. The idiots took the fuse out for the ignition "on" and jammed a wire down in the fuse panel.

I hate those drive by, no experience necessary, get rich quick "installers." They have no idea what an actual wiring diagram is, poke and prod with a test light to find a constant on or accessory on wire and hack into it, usually with scotch locks and have no clue as to problems it will lead to down the road.

Oh I thought I was the only one that had to fix wires scotched on injector wires.:wack:
Some people should have to take a test before buying tools.

      Ain't that the truth.

What's worse is watching the so-called "professionals" using them. Watch the idiots at U-Haul centers scotch lock shit together.

It's like someone running new brake lines and using compression fittings.

Bought a truck a while back. Previous owner has installed a simple digital clock. 4 wires, keep alive, ground, dimmer and key controlled power. Yet these 4 wires were tied into 9 underdash wires....with wire nuts and duct tape....

      This is so true.

Was watching one of those car building shows. They took on a guys Jeep. A total mess of wires every where. He had 6 20 amp fuses being powered by a 3 amp fuse. :violent1:
